A couple of really big things happened this week. The first and most exciting thing was that I am going to the Western Canadian Crossfit Games representing my gym - Champ City Crossfits - on their team. Along with the team the gym is also sending three individuals to compete.
Last night a fundraiser was held at the gym to help the athletes and coaches out with some of the costs. There was a potluck, bake sale, silent auction and a friendly competition of minute to win it. I was overwhelmed by the Champ City community. So many people came, a lot of laughs were had and over $3000 was raised.
I now have just over a month to work on some of my weaknesses so that I am worthy of the support from Champ City.

Sadly, I had to leave the festivities before too much fun was had at the fundraiser as Jill, Karlee (Rhyannon too) and I had signed up to do the 5Peaks night race in Fort Saskatchewan. It was meant to be a 10k but due to spring being so late it was reduced to ~9k.
It took me around 58 minutes to run the course. I fought through some early course back spasms - should have carried the tiger balm they gave us - that would have helped. All in all, I wasn't really feeling it, thanks to my trusty Run Keeper app I know that my average pace was almost a full mph slower than my usual average.
But I finished, didn't lose a shoe and have my first ever long distance race under my belt.
