I'm not really sure what happened to August, but it is now in the rear view mirror! Kelcey and I went camping to Elk Island National Park - it was Bison Fest - and her first time camping. I think it went well, except for the forgotten eggs and butter..... We went for a few hikes, saw some bison, swans and some wee little frogs. Seamus did really well being on a lead and in the tent - until the squirrel walked by at 6:00am. There is now a Seamus sized duct tape repair on the front screen. |
After that camping trip Bryan and I finished taking the rest of the broken concrete out of the basement and packed some nice garden sand around our nice new PVC plumbing. We are still waiting for something to pour the concrete - I'm not sure what but we'll know when it happens. I think I moved 1100 lbs of sand in and took probably double that out of dirt and concrete - thank you Champ City Crossfit for keeping me strong! The next thing on the reno list is replacing all of our heating/AC ducts. This is happening on the last weekend in September - we were planning on not turning the furnace on until after that but Mother Nature had different ideas. Snow in early September and lows below zero overnight....
Near the end of August we met up with Jenn and Jon and had a Red-Neck camping weekend - shooting targets and pigeons. Confirmed that Larry will not likely be a gun dog - Seamus was a bit better - anything for food! It was a good trip up in the Fort Assiniboine area - all four dogs were exhausted after the two nights away from their homes!

The most recent adventure had Seamus and I traveling to Saskatoon for his first Flyball tournament. He did really well - he only ran 2/5 heats per race but ended up getting enough points to get his first ribbon (was Larry ever jealous when we showed him)! He impressed the crowd and other dog owners by bringing back extra balls that he found in his lane and with his odd sounding howls when he was suppose to be resting in his kennel. We will be continuing on with Flyball and will need to work some on his box turn - he doesn't always get all four paws on the box...as you can see below. |
Now for the birthd
aysLarry celebrated his second birthday in July with a new collar and some toys. Seamus' birthday is next week and he will also be getting a new collar and possibly a new ball (don't tell him about the ball - he's already figured out the collar).
My birthday is today and I've already received some pretty sweet presents - my favourite so far is the photo book that my nephews made from their visit here this summer. My lovely husbands birthday is in three weeks - so for the next three weeks I will get teased for being older than him.....that's ok because I'm pretty sure I can squat more than he can (thanks again Champ City).
