Mom and Marc-Andre have arrived safe and sound back in New Brunswick, Larry and Bryan have gone camping for the weekend. It's just Smid, Seamus, baby Gomes and I. I'm enjoying the peacefulness!
Let's start with the week long visit with family! I love visiting my family - maybe it's because we are so far apart or maybe it's because they are awesome...either way I love it. We had big plans for the week - a bit of bad luck with the weather kept us from keeping all of our plans - namely camping and watching a bit of the PanAm Jr. Track and Field meet - but we made up for it with a trip to Galaxy Land (expectant mothers should refrain from rides - WHAT?) and the Telus World of Science for Dinosaurs Uncovered (or some similar name).
Marc-Andre and I visited most of the local playgrounds and one of the spray parks - who knew we'd be the only two people at the playground at 7am??? We had a great trip out to visit Bryan's parents at Trestle Creek - giant slip and slide (fun), water slides and MA almost drowned when he tipped his kayak...not really. Uncle Bryan took MA down to the North Saskatchewan for a fishing trip - no fish were caught but his casting skills were pretty good by the end of the night (photos below)!
As for baby Gomes - we are well into week 22, still feeling good - feeling more kicks all the time. At the gym I'm running into a few more movements that the belly just gets in the way of - but that was expected. I didn't know that there were so many doctor visits involved in having a baby! I haven't had any food cravings, beyond the ones I had pre-pregnancy (ice cream and pizza). I've had a bit of back pain - but thanks to my awesome chiropractor that is going away.
Upcoming things I'm looking forward to:

Upcoming things I'm looking forward to:
- Seamus not being in a cone or lame. A few weeks back he escaped the yard and chased what I think was a rabbit or bird and ended up tearing one of the pads on a front paw. While we had that one bandaged his dew claw (or what I like to call his thumb) caused a sore as it rubbed against his paw under the bandage and now he has moist dermatitis there. If you let him he'll lick that paw all day - so he's in a cone when we aren't around and one of my old, clean, socks when we are. He is allergic to the antibiotics that were prescribed to clear up the infection so we will be returning to the vet again tomorrow to see if there is a third option (has adverse reactions to the preferred drug and the second choice drug...). So thankful for Pet Insurance - TruPanion has saved us thousands. Also thankful that Seamus ended up in our house as I'm not sure he would be so well treated elsewhere.
- Upcoming trip to Yellowknife. I believe the kids are calling these things Babymoons. I'm calling it I've always wanted to go there and now is a perfect time.
- Night at the races. Going to bet on horses and enjoy an good meal all on Bryan's company. It feels better losing a bet if it's not your money. It feels better winning a bet too.
