So here we are at the end of week 28. The new beginning draws nearer whether or not Bryan and I are ready for it. There are moments of excitement, fear, worry and moments when I forget and try and squeeze through a space that I now have no business trying to squeeze through! Our baby supplies have started to increase - thanks to friends cleaning out their homes and Airmiles!
Since the last post we went on a quick trip to the Yukon! Amazing! If you haven't been there yet, what are you waiting for? The trip started out with two days/nights in and around Whitehorse. We stayed in a yurt with the most amazing location/views (see photos) and hosts. We ate some pretty delicious food and saw a bunch of touristy spots around town. We didn't do much hiking as my lungs are the size of a small kittens but have definitely marked the map with spots to return to.

The third day was a bit of a drive down the highway (Alberta should take some pointers as even the unpaved sections were much smoother) to Keno City! Not a city - there are eight (8) year round inhabitants of this old silver mining town. Here we stayed at the historic Keno City Hotel but we had just missed the towns second annual Kenogras party which was held over the Labour Day long weekend. They had 4 live bands! We made our way up Sign Post hill and took in the view of the surrounding valley. There was snow up at the top and most of the vegetation had changed into amazing fall colours.
After a hearty breakfast we were headed north to Dawson with dreams of striking it rich on a gold claim! For the entire drive we stopped at every view point to have a look around, to take pictures and to take advantage of the facilities. In Dawson we stayed in a revamped miners cabin on the edge of town. I'm sure if the original owner could see it now he wouldn't believe that it was the same cabin! Here we played 9 holes of golf - not playing for a year and being pregnant don't make for a great score but I still hit a couple of nice shots. We drove the Top of the World Highway almost to Alaska - a beautiful trip full of hills/mountains and fall colours. We panned for gold - Bryan actually found some at the free claim - mine all came from the tourist bag of dirt they sell you... It was a lot harder than I thought - well I don't think I'd ever thought about how it was done before to be honest. We ate more excellent food here and Bryan did the Sour Toe shot. Yuck. All too soon we were headed back to Whitehorse for the final night with dreams of moving north forming in both our heads.
