The power line down the front of Grande Mountain leading back into town is the most dangerous part of the entire course.
It all started the night of the Rockers 35th anniversary / year end awards in October. Somehow, Jo Hull convinced me and three other girls that doing the Canadian Death Race was a good idea. We agreed (I blame the alcohol) and sealed the deal with a shot. You can't back out after you do a shot, can you? No, you can't.
Yesterday, I registered our team - The Barmy Army - consisting of Chelsea Guthrie (1), Karlee Carbert (3), Jill Morgan (5), Jo Hull (4) and myself (2). The numbers represent what leg of the race each of us is doing - I’m not sure how we settled on any of the legs other than Jo’s - leg 4 is the longest and it was her idea.
In order to help motivate myself to train I’ve decided to raise money for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, NWT and Yukon. On July of 2003 my mother and father travelled to Australia to visit me. I was on a year long adventure with my bf of the time. Three days prior to meeting up with us (July 30) my father had a heart attack and died. I’m running my leg for him.
To sponsor me please click here. I hope to update this blog with my training (hopefully not the lack of) and the success of my fundraising - I’ve set a goal of $1000 (thanks to SamJ I'm on my way)!
